Asheville Bed and Breakfast Noting of Busker Nation

Asheville has notoriety.  From its weird eclectic and famously creative vibe to our Asheville Bed and Breakfast Noting of Busker Nation.  Confession is, they say, good for the soul so now would likely be the time to tell you that I had no earthy idea what the term Busker was  the first time I heard it. This word comes from the word-busk…meaning to entertain by dancing, singing or reciting on the street or in a public place.  There, in that one definition you have a glimmering of the heart and soul of Asheville.

On nearly any spring or summer evening,  the rhythm of the night finds its melody floating through the streets of Asheville.  Street musicians can most often be found near Pack Square, near our friend, Malaprop’s Bookstore,(love that place for the best new read around) near the Flat Iron Building on Wall Street, Pritchard Park scene, or near the Grove Arcade.

Our city wisely does not require licenses for these folks and has only a few restrictions on their craft choosing, as the locals do, to consider themselves lucky for such magic in their midst.  Most city mandated restrictions are safety related as in…. they cannot block establishments doors.
They also cannot solicit donations but the locals and frankly most visitors, having chosen Asheville for its artistic and music flair, are more than generous and would not have to be solicited so thrilled to have such an electric atmosphere to visit.

So, if as Gloria Esteban always sings with gusto, “the rhythm is gonna get you” may you be so lucky as to have it get you in Asheville.
