A-Tisket, A-Tasket-An Asheville Bed and Breakfast Basket

Summertime calls for a venture into the wilds bearing food.  It’s just tradition.  Besides, one cannot disappoint the mosquitoes, flies, ants and other fauna that await you there-A-Tisket, A-Tasket-An Asheville Bed and Breakfast Basket.

All jokes aside, summer picnics are Americana so along with a package our Asheville Bed and Breakfast is offering to encourage your exploration of our area, I wanted to provide the location suggestions to some of the most beautiful places on he planet for your special picnic.  Whether the picnic is to be the scene of your “hoped for”  engagement or just a place with your special person far from the maddening crowd- you will find on this list some of the best of the best.

Close In to Asheville: 1.   French Broad River Park.  Intersection of Amboy and Meadows with the meandering French Broad River as your softly rolling companion, this site is lovely.

2.  Biltmore Estate: I have lived in Asheville for nearly 12 years.  The life of an innkeeper may not always allow for long excursions into the woods, time being a scarce commodity…Enter, Biltmore Estate.  It is easily one of the most beautiful specimens of forestry in our area.  From the Swans in the pond area to the more densely forested areas- a picnic here while close in, will transport your soul to a tranquil place.

Into the Wilds: 1.  Dupont Forest-If I have time to drive a bit (about 1hour from the inn) there is no more beautiful place on the planet. There are not many places in the world where- right above your perfect picnic rock- is a magically beautiful, plunging 120- foot waterfall.  Awesome is not enough to say. You have to be there to know.

2.  Waterrock Knob:  Paradise found at MM 451.2 on our beloved Blue Ridge Parkway. Free for the viewing at 6,292 feet— find your patch of grass or a picnic table while taking in the view of 50 miles (more on a less foggy day) of beauty unsurpassed anywhere.

Check Out our Facebook page At Cumberland Falls Bed and Breakfast Inn for the last Perfect Picnic Spot.  After all the time we’ve lived here (12 years), we just found it ourselves. Hope while you’re there, you’ll LIKE US.
